Last night, the witches soared freely through the air on their brooms, the fairies fluttered happily (and a tad bit naughtily) around with their friends, and the angels displayed their somewhat devilish (all in the name of fun) behavior. The boo-tastic part was that they all looked absolutely fabulous in their high heels.

Oh the fun, we all had on Halloween. Though, it’s not over yet. Yes, the night has passed and the costumes are hanging in the closets however, the fun is still here:

The Queen in Heels Halloween Costume Contest – Haunting in Heels

We would love to see what you were and the high heels (pumps, kitten heels) you chose to compliment your costume.
Not only can you share the fun you had and how great you looked; you can win a gift certificate to buy a new pair of high heels for the upcoming holidays (think of all the parties and gatherings coming).

We have three gift certificates to Heel.com.

All you have to do is send a picture to hauntinginheels@queeninheels (read all the details and rules here)

If you didn’t wear high heels as part of your costume, share our contest and link with a friend who did. I am sure she will appreciate the thought.

You have your costume, you have your heels and now you are faced with the question of where to go to party and celebrate this Halloween. Better yet, where should a Queen go? How about to the biggest Halloween party on the planet (no exaggeration) that is also held in the most energizing city of the world. I’m speaking of the New York Village Halloween Parade in New York City. Now in its 35th year, the parade was started in 1973 by a Greenwich Village puppeteer and mask maker who walked home to home entertaining the neighborhood children. Fast-forward to 2009 and the New York Village Halloween Parade is the hallmark evening event of a night filled with hardcore and horror-filled Halloween Partying. Needless to say, it is no longer solely a children’s affair. As a matter of fact, some people may argue that it is far from being suitable for children at all. (Leave the kids alone. Besides, name one place where you would wear your favorite four-inch heels and bring your kids.) The night parade is held in downtown Manhattan and attracts over 2 million ghouls, goblins and half-breeds. There are also a few humans sprinkled about the haunted souls and masses of living dead. (After all, Vampires need something to feed on as they party until dawn.) The parade usually starts at approximately 6:30pm, and after the parade ends, the Halloween party is just beginning – so make sure you wear your most comfortable heels or bring an extra pair of party flats.

Parade and Party Tips:
*	Try arriving AT LEAST, two hours before the 6:30pm start time in order to secure a good spot for viewing the parade.
*	After the parade, the serious party-goers show off their costumes along Christopher Street in Greenwich Village. If you wish to hang-out, it is best to catch the parade in the nearby vicinity between 14th and Bleecker Street.
*	To really enjoy the experience and make the trip worthwhile, you should opt to participate in the parade itself. More details on how to be apart of the parade can be found at the following link: www.halloween-nyc.com
*	If street partying is not your thing, visit this link to get the low down on NYC Halloween Celebration locales and activities: http://www.halloweennyc.com/
*	If you are traveling from outside of NYC:
*	Lodging accommodations: There are plenty of options. Ideally, you would want something in the Chelsea area of Manhattan.
*	Airports: There are three primary airports serving NYC: JFK in Queens, Newark in New Jersey and La Guardia in Queens.
*	Jetblue is offering a Killer deal. $31 dollar one-way flights for any travel going anywhere occurring on October 31st. Jetblue

“It’s close to midnight and something evil’s lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes
You’re paralyzed

‘Cause this is thriller, thriller night . . .

“Night creatures calling, the dead start to walk in their masquerade . . . Cause this is . . .

Halloween

That is the perfect song to set the mood and kick start this contest off right.

Remember when that video premiered? It was an event. We all gathered around the television with friends and family and sat mesmerized the entire thirteen minutes. Afterwards, we released the breath we had been holding with a long very amazed, WOW and Michael Jackson . . .well, he conquered the music world.

I digress.

What contest? It’s the Queen in Heels Halloween Costume Contest . . . Haunting in Heels.

That’s right.
Why a Halloween Costume Contest?

The 80's

We love dressing up, almost as much as we love high heels.

Have you ever played dress-up when you were a little girl? Of course you have. Maybe you would raid your mother’s closet, put on one of her dresses and a pair of high heels, then parade around like a movie star. Some of you probably were lucky enough to have a costume wardrobe, filled with princess dresses and purses to take to tea parties with the teddy bears.

Now we are grown and we still love to play dress up. Thankfully, Halloween let’s us do so without drawing puzzled stares from our loved ones and co-workers.

Vampiress

Halloween allows the school teacher, by day, let out her inner rock star for a night. It allows the biker girl to wear white angel wings on her back and a silver halo on her head.

Dressing up is like putting on a new personality. How can one put on a blond wig and white dress and not feel her inner Marilyn Monroe emerge? Or put on that sweet fairy costume with a hint of sexy and not feel a tinge bit mischievous?

And here we are again, October, the month of dress-up and Halloween.

Have you decided who you are going to be this year?

There are so many possibilities and so many personalities to choose from.

What is a girl to do?

If you haven’t figured it out (or even if you have) here are a few tips:

Visctorian Pirate

* Be Creative: If you want to be the Queen Fairy of the Vampire Mushroom people who live in the Purple Valley (uumm . . . good luck on designing it); please, go for it. Being creative means being unique. You will stand out from the rest of the fairies, witches and wenches. However, there is a one thing, don’t over do it or you will find yourself spending the night explaining your costume and missing the fun.

* Avoid showing too much skin: The purpose of a costume is to dress up. If all you are wearing a bra, short shorts, and high heels . . . people will only think you want attention. And all attention isn’t good attention.

* Dressing up as a couple is fun: Make sure that you complement each other.

* Avoid bulky costumes: We don’t want you to knock over the drinks of those around you. And bumping into others all night is not fun for other guests or you.

* Indulge your fantasies: This is the perfect time of the year to allow yourself to lose yourself. If you have been secretly wishing you were a clown, well then girlfriend get that red nose.

* If you are dressing up and if high heels are a part of your costume: we want to see them.
Email a picture to: hauntinginheels@queeninheels.com

Harlow Clown

We are giving away three great prizes (a little hint . . They are gift certificates to heels.com).

There is no catch. There is no gimmick. We are not trying to steal your information or sell you anything. This is only a fun contest. And if you are interest read all the details and rules here
