We have made the decision to stay here for (at least) 5 more years. We are switching over the format of the blog to focus more on women issues, HOWEVER, do not worry, the heels are here to stay. For us high heels are not about fashion; they are a lifestyle. And high heels are the shoes we wear on our paths to dreams becoming reality, empowerment, success, and happiness.
Another big deal is that this year . . . today as a matter-of-fact is the 100th Heel of the Week post. WooooHoooo!!
To celebrate, this milestone, we are posting the most expensive shoe we have ever featured as the Heel of the Week.




Why would we choose such an expensive shoe? Because, it is symbolic of our motto to strive for the best in all areas of out lives. And. . .well. . . we also love this wedge (btw for those who don’t know wedges are the “it” shoe of spring/summer).

How much is this the Alexander McQueen Wave strappy wedge? First, the details then, the price. From the Alexander McQueen spring 2012 collection, the wave wedge features curvilinear suede straps that form an architectural cage sandal and a halter ankle wrap with adjustable buckle for a custom fit. The metallic ombre wedge has a ridged texture and a height of 5 1/2-inches.




The Alexander McQueen Wave Strappy Wedge retails for $5095.

In the movie, Elizabeth plays Martha, a woman haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, struggling to re-assimilate with her family after fleeing an abusive cult.





Elizabeth wore a pair of Alexander McQueen Jeweled Finned-Wedge Pumps (a shoe crush of mine). The shoes feature sparkling two-tone beading detail against soft, smooth suede over the vamp and around the ankle. The 5 3/4 -inch sculptural finned wedge heels retail for around $1,645.

There have been times when I have posted a few pictures of some of the fashion at a runway show. For this Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2012 post, I had to restrain myself. I wanted to post every picture I found. To say I am in love with this collection would be an understatement. It is so much more than love, it is absolute AWE.





To know me is to know, I was (still am) an admirer of the late great Lee Alexander McQueen. He captivated me from the moment I found out about his first collection. I will agree with many that some of his designs were out there. . . um is that trash they are wearing. . .haha the memories. I remember when they announced his death. . . a friend text me. “did you hear?” I was at work and I texted back, “yes, I got the email alert.” It felt as if I lost a member of my family.

When the Savage Beauty Exhibit opened at the MET Museum, I knew I had to go (whether hail or high water thankfully, neither occurred). And to this very moment, I am so glad I did. It is one of those experiences that I will always hold close to my heart. Two weeks after the passing of Alexander McQueen, I wrote this post. My last sentence:

I do wish the person or persons who will create his collections to follow much success in their endeavor. However, one thing will remain true . . . they have some pretty incredible shoes to fill.




Sarah Burton has not needed my luck or anyone else’s. Time after time she has delivered amazing collection after amazing collection. And then, for Spring 2012 collection, Sarah went beyond amazing to extraordinarily fantastical leaving me speechless.





When Sarah Burton was hired (she worked with McQueen for 15yrs), she stated, that she planned to move away from McQueen’s theatrics and her designs would be softer. Something she has always achieved. However, this collection, was as if she sat down and had a conversation with Alexander before designing. I am so happy, that Sarah Burton has kept the spirit of Alexander McQueen alive in her collections.





For Spring 2012, Sarah Burton took us to a underwater world where Goddesses rule. According to Style.com, Burton based her collection on the three Gs: Grès for the pleating and draping, Gaudí for the architecture, and Gaia for the sense of all-encompassing oceanic life.





The headpieces:



This black with white feathers (oil slick) is my favorite. I don’t know how many times I said love but, I LOVE IT.


Finally, the crème de la crème of the Paris show the sculptural wedges.

Red is the color of blood, and as such has strong symbolism as life and vitality. In China, red is the color of prosperity and joy. Red roses symbolize passionate love. Red is the color of passion and lust. and red is the color of the heel of the week . . .



It is so fitting that these wedges are in red. When I look at them I feel happiness and a strong sexual desire to have them on my feet. They make my heart beat faster. My blood rushes rapidly through my veins. My emotions are strong. I feel my soul stirring and my inner goddess coming to life. I want them. I lust them. I love them.



The red suede curved 5.5 inch wedge features an ankle strap with a gold tone buckle and a peep toe. It retails for around $777.

The Heel of the Week

This week’s heel is from the house of Alexander McQueen.





Alexander McQueen Plait Cognac platform sandals. The 6-inch high heels feature multiple thin straps and a plaited lattice panel up the front. The sandals have a bronze tone zip fastening in the back and can be found on sale for around $480.
