Why I Love Being a Woman

I sit here and contemplate this question realizing I cannot come up with a positive, woman empowering answer.

At twenty five years old, I question my own knowledge about being a woman and am I even a woman yet?

Physically, I see a woman before me in the mirror.

Child bearing wide hips, perky breasts the right size just to hold a handful of – or perhaps a mouthful -, long legs, delicate facial features, soft smooth skin and curves –the curves I constantly battle to embrace whole heartedly.

I am captivated by the eyes staring back at me and what fills them.

Strength. Courage. Beauty. Sass. Intelligence. Love. Independence. Passion. Sacrifice. Allure. Determination. Empathy. Perseverance. Devotion. Nurture. Sadness. Faith. Emotion. Soul.

These are the eyes of a woman.

This comes from the generations of women who came before me and paved the way for myself and the other women of my generation.

Their history. My present. Our future.

That is why I love being a woman.

  3. Alena, I love this post. I especially <3 the description of your eyes. "Strength. Courage. Beauty. Sass. Intelligence. Love. Independence. Passion. Sacrifice. Allure. Determination. Empathy. Perseverance. Devotion. Nurture. Sadness. Faith. Emotion. Soul." Very poetic and absolutely true, I'm sure.
