Do you love the latest styles and trends in fashion but are not sure what would look good on you? Do you get overwhelmed trying to decide what to wear every time you look inside your cluttered closet? Or, maybe you love great clothing but hate shopping? Well ladies, meet Zoë Renee aka “Fabulous”, your personal shopper.

Zoë Renee is a beautiful woman both in appearance and in spirit. She has been a personal shopper for three years and is very enthusiastic about all things fashion. She even has a Chihuahua named Dolce Gabanna (who goes by Dolce when he is behaving) and a white cat named Chanel. As a matter of fact, Zoë has 11 pets that she cares for, including frogs, a bearded dragon, four cats, and two dogs. With all those pets, one wouldn’t think she would have much room for her favorite accessory – handbags. She owns over 200 of them!
Multi-faceted in many regards, Zoë Renee also loves modeling and has amassed a healthy resume of photo shoots over the years. She loves taking pictures and the art of photography so much that she helps out upcoming photographers by only asking for a copy of the photos for herself rather than charging them for her time.
It’s that kind spirit combined with her passion for fashion, which makes her profession as a personal shopper seem like the sensible fit for Zoë. In life, there are only a few things that have a direct an immediate impact on a person’s sense of self-identity and self esteem. What we decide to wear is certainly one of those few things and Zoë is at the forefront of that in the lives of her clients working behind the scenes in their closets, or maybe I say behind the seams.
What made you decide that you wanted to start a personal shopping business?
Actually, I am a personal shopper and fashion stylist. I have an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising and Management and a Minor in Business. I have always felt from a young age that I was meant to be in fashion. It is something I was born to do.
I have always had a sense of great style and was very stylish and creative. A couple of years after graduating I began looking into being a personal shopper. I was going to be a buyer but in a retail store you have to work your way up from the bottom. I had friends who were always asking for pointers on what to wear. A couple of years after I graduated college I started with my friends and built my client list from there.
I do more than shop. I also help organize closets. I take a look at the closet and decide what to get rid of and what to keep. Many of the clothes I take to a resell store where they can be traded in for money to help purchase new clothing. If something just needs repaired, like a hem in a pair of pants, then I suggest it is better to do that than to spend money on another pair.
It is important to see what is already in the closet. There is no reason to buy something they already own and have just forgot about. Which is why I re-arrange the closet by color, by item (i.e. shirts with shirts and pants with pants), and use shelves and baskets to create an organize closet. An organized closet is very important.
I will help the client put together outfits from what they already own. Showing them to wear a shirt with a pair of pants that they otherwise did not think would go together. After we have gone through the closet and pairing outfits, we can go shopping from there.
I noticed (on the site) you also sell jewelry.
I do make jewelry. I also make jewelry for pets (Zoë Renee has created a replica of the Harry Winston collar worn by the star of Beverly Hills Chihuahua for her cat Chanel).
What fashion trends inspire your personal style?
As a plus size girl, I really like black a lot. I also like lots of accessories. Even a simple outfit such as a t-shirt and jeans can be dressed up with a pair of boots, earrings, a handbag and a cute hat. Or a pair of heels . . .
Yes, can’t forget the heels (laughter)
Got to plug the heels in there (laughter). But, any outfit can be turned into a totally different outfit with accessories. You can go with something being simple during the day to dressing it up for an evening out.
Who is the “Queen in Heels” you admire?
I really like Drew Barrymore and Marilyn Monroe. (Zoë Renee recently did a photo shoot where she had the pleasure of dressing up as Marilyn Monroe. She truly enjoyed channeling her inner Marilyn and feeling as if she were her).
I also admire Gwen Stefani. She has a quote that I like that I would like to read to you.
“I love designing because it’s not a big effort to do it. I always have ideas.”
That’s how I feel.
