Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper Raise Awareness

lbd_phixrYou found the perfect dress for that big date. Now to get the perfect accessories to complete the look and leave him begging for it (don’t be shy you know what “it” is), you spent the entire day at the mall. You got the earrings, necklace, evening purse, the high heels (of course), and lastly condoms.

Condoms?

Yes, you read that line right, condoms. The essential accessory every single woman must own. As a matter-of fact, of all the fashion and accessories (including shoes), condoms are the most important and necessary. Condoms protect you so you can shop another day.condom200
Recently, Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga have teamed up for a new campaign sponsored by MAC Cosmetics’ nonprofit MAC AIDS Fund.

The campaign is to remind women around the world that we as women need to protect ourselves. Why? Women are more likely to become infected with HIV than men.

MAC AIDS Fund conducted a survey of women and their sexual health. Here are some of the results that they found.

78% of women admit they’ve engaged in sexual intercourse without a condom.
55% of women have admitted they’ve never been tested for HIV and AIDS.
72% of women who had not used a condom didn’t use protection because they were in an exclusive relationship.
31% didn’t use condoms because they trusted their partner was not HIV-positive.
Lastly, many women don’t feel powerful enough to fight for their own sexual health.

The purpose of the MAC AIDS Fund is to empower women.

As Dr. Marjorie Hill, CEO of Gay Men’s Health Crisis, says, “Empowering women is essential to ensuring condom use. Women who feel safe, secure and confident are much more likely to negotiate safer sex.”

We at Queen in Heels agree. We as women must remember that we have the power, the right, and the responsibility to protect ourselves. Ladies taking the lead in your sexual health not only empowers you it saves your life.

1. We can walk into a store and purchase a box of condoms without feeling shame or judgement from others because we chose to protect ourselves.
2. We can insist that he put the condom on or leave.
3. We can sit or partner down and question if he has remained faithful if we have the feeling something is not right.
4. We can ask the guy if he has been tested for HIV and AIDS recently.
5. We will go get an HIV and AIDS test ourselves. We will go alone, as a couple, or ask a friend along for support.
6. We will ask our friends and family members to go get an HIV and AIDS test. And go along for support if they need it.
7. We will talk to our daughters (and sons) on the importance of protecting themselves and stop ignoring the fact that yes they will one day have sex.

Yes, we do want to have fun —- safely.

Absolutely, I support this type of 50/50 commitment to getting frisky!

Most of us men, are a bit absent minded and cheap when it comes to having condoms. Always having them is just an excuse to be WAY too boring! :)

Sorry, yes safe sex is the right thing to do!

Thank you for the man’s point of view (even it was an excuse). This is why we women must protect ourselves.

      Thanks for the support.
