Friday’s Hot List: Rest and Relaxation – We all Need it

Summer days filled with beautiful sunny days and bright blue skies are upon us. The perfect conditions for enjoying life . . . outdoor activities, traveling, and fun in the sun. However, I have found that I need to take a small weekend break from all the summer events and outdoor life. So, if like me you are settling in for a quiet easy weekend . . . here are a few fun (and cheap) ways to relax, rethink, and rejuvenate.

Sadly, with so many activities going on in my life, I rarely get the chance to read. When I was younger, I always had my nose in a book. Now when I find time to read . . . the books are blogging/business related. I miss a good story. So, I have decided to set aside some time to read more often.

Actually, reading is good for bloggers, writers, and inspiring authors. Reading books can help improve your skills, but I digress. . .

Anyway, looking for a few books to download (for Kindle), I came across a free freebies (a few I have shared on the Queen in Heel’s Facebook page).
Note: at the time of posting these were free however, prices are subject to change.

A QUESTION OF STYLE; How to look incredible at 40 and beyond :

Spying in High Heels (High Heels Mysteries)

Bootscootin’ Blahniks (The Bootscootin’ Books)

Honestly, I have not read any of these books as of yet. So, I can not say with certainty that they are good reads. One thing for sure they are free.

If you like watching movies and T.V shows. I want to suggest Netflix. For only 8 dollars a month . . . much less then a family of 4 can go to the movies on. . . it is a good deal. I have Netflix downloaded on the Wii so that I can watch it on the television. My children and I are multi-cultural movie/ watchers. What does that mean? We like to shows from all over the world and also, shows about people from all over the world. With that said. . . Netflix is a great (and cheap) way to spend a relaxing weekend.

Lipstick Jungle :

Confession: Though, I own and like the book. . .I LOVE the so much more. I actually prefer the Nico O’Neilly story line on the show. I liked that the younger man (Kirby) was not a gold digger and genuinely liked her.

Confession: I like this show better than the Sex in the City show (also based on a book by Candace Bushnell).

Confession: I am so upset there are only two seasons of Lipstick Jungle.

I suggest if you haven’t seen Lipstick Jungle that you make it a marathon weekend and watch it.

Fashion :

Also, available on Netflix is the Hindi movie “Fashion.” This is a foreign film however, there are English subtitles.
I also want to point out that the film clocks in at 2hrs and 50 minutes.

Aspiring model Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra) expresses her wish to go to Mumbai and pursue her dream of becoming a supermodel. There she meets small-time model Janet (Mugdha Godse) and reigning supermodel Shonali Gujral (Kangna Ranaut).

I sooo enjoyed this movie. I do not want to spoil the plot of the film for those who have not seen it. So, I am just going to say . . . WATCH IT!!

Now, as a mother in heels, I do understand that sitting in the house on the couch all day may not be an all weekend option. So, I suggest if you are looking for some free/cheap ways to spend time with the children. . . print the 100 Things to do this Summer List over at The Seventh District.

Actually, the 100 Things to do this Summer list is perfect for families, couples, and single Queens in Heels.
