Tell us a little about you (the person behind the blog).
Hi! I’m Rachel, from The Random Writings of Rachel. I’m a young wife and recent college grad. I’ve been married almost two years, but I’m still claiming newlywed status! I majored in Mandarin Chinese in college, and loved it! I have a lot of random passions, among them clothes, books, writing, languages, people, and life in general.
Tell us about your blog.
The Random Writings of Rachel is exactly what the title says–it’s a bunch of Random Writings. Neither I nor my readers quite know what I’ll write next! My favorite thing is to be funny, so most of the time you can expect a laugh!
What inspired you to first start writing your blog?
When I was 18 I self-published a book of short stories, entitled The Random Writings of Rachel. However, I really wasn’t done writing randomly, not by a long shot, so I decided to steal my own title and start a blog!
How has blogging affected your life?
It gives me a reason to write every day, which I love! Before I felt like my creativity was lagging, but really I think the problem was that without an audience or an outlet for writing, it was hard to be inspired. I do spend a lot more time on the computer these days!
What has been the biggest challenge you have faced with your blog?
I haven’t been at it long, so there really haven’t been any tough challenges! As a writer, I’ve definitely had to face my share of rejection letters from publishers who weren’t interested in my work. I haven’t experienced anything like that with blogging so far!
What advice would you give to new bloggers?
I’m still pretty new myself, only about two months in! I’d say spend most of your time creating well-written, interesting content. Don’t copy what you see other people doing on their blogs, because honestly, it’s boring to
see the same type of posts over and over again!
