Since the beginning of 2009, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta has been receiving a great deal of attention for her role in music, fashion, and civil rights.

In music alone Stefani, who we all have come to know and love as Lady Gaga, has had an amazing year. She has been nominated for five awards for the upcoming Grammys, including album of the year. In April 2009, her song “Poker Face” hit number one on the Billboard hot 100 charts. In May 2009, Rolling Stone proclaimed her as a rising star while featuring her on their cover page wearing only plastic bubbles.
At the MTV Music Awards Lady Gaga received nine nominations and three from the AMA’s. In October, Billboard presented her with the Billboard’s Magazine Rising Star of 2009 award.
With a fervent appreciation for civic accountability, Lady Gaga – who is openly bi-sexual- addressed marchers at the National Equality March in Washington DC in October 2009 and has been known to champion gay and lesbian rights among other important social issues.
Lady Gaga has also proclaimed that she loves fashion. Reciprocally, the fashion world has definitely taken notice of her and the designers love her back. This is evident from the StyleMaker award given to her at the Accessories Council Excellence Awards presented by Marc Jacobs.
Her own love for fashion is evident from every visual display we receive from her. From everything spanning her videos to what she drapes from her body, we see her fascination with fashion and the gift of limitless creativity that it bestows. In her video, Bad Romance, Gaga is seen wearing many of the pieces from Alexander McQueen’s 2010 collection. And from her wardrobe displays out in public, we can see that her mind is in constant motion when it comes to thinking of creative “items” to wear for upcoming events and appearances. (We use the word “items” intentionally. Because we all know that Lady Gaga is not likely to show up in something that we would typically classify as “clothes”.) While many times her outfits have left us speechless, we find ourselves anxiously awaiting her arrival so that we can see what she has chosen to wear, not wear or, more aptly, what she has created in order to adorn herself.

No matter if it is her trend-setting music, relevant civic passions or awe-inspiring fashion creations, we literally will be looking forward to “seeing” with what and how Lady Gaga will expand our minds this upcoming year.
